In a lighting application, a designer wants the lighting to be smooth, deep and has a low risk of visible distractions or physiological effects of flicker. The deep dimming function is designed to achieve a natural dimming performance. As a common consumer, it is always a concern about the three aspects before he/she chooses a dimmable LED driver.
Provide a constant current of up to 1050 mA
RECOM announces the launch of its RCDE-48 series LED driver modules. These drivers can work with an input voltage of up to 60 VDC. It can provide a constant current of up to 1050 mA. It also features analogue or PWM deep dimming.
Drive a string of up to 15 LEDs
RECOM has added to its offering of LED drivers with the RCDE-48 series. It is a range of modules that can provide multiple current outputs up to 350mA, 700mA or 1050mA. It can provide a constant current to drive strings of up to 15 high brightness LEDs. The rated efficiency of the driver is up to 97 per cent.
Provide PWM dimming input
The input voltage range fro the driver is between 6 VDC up to 60VDC. Using this wide voltage range, it can suit 12V, 24V or 48V nominal supply rails. It can provide a linear analogue or PWM dimming input of percentage varying from 0 – 100%. The driver is compatible with 3.3V logic. This makes it suitable to interface with IoT nodes or micro-controlled dimmers.
Eliminates forced cooling
The Dim pin can also be used as a remote ON/OFF control. The devices can operate to high ambient temperatures (+80°C for the 350mA part). It does so without derating or forced cooling. This, hence, make these drivers suitable for indoor and outdoor lighting applications. It can work up to an altitude of 5000 metres.

Working time of up to 1.3M hours
All the drivers feature over-temperature protection, UVLO, output open- and short-circuit protection. It provides an average working time of up to 1.3M hours. These modules are available in a standard DIP-24 package. The dimensions of the driver are 32.1mm x 20.8mm x 12.3mm. For a typical application, the driver can be used as a 48V powered lighting solution for up to 15 high brightness LEDs in series.
