USB is an industry-standard ‘user-friendly’ method of transferring data between a host device (such as a computer) and a peripheral device (for example, a mouse). To most computer users, the system simply allows the use of various devices by attaching them via a USB port.

USB Type-A and USB Type B plugs have the same number of pins and are electrically identical. They are only different mechanically. This was an intentional feature designed by the USB Implementers Forum to prevent connecting a host to another host, which could cause a short circuit.

USB Type B connectors are most commonly seen on larger computer devices like printers and scanners. You’ll also sometimes find USB Type B ports on external storage devices like optical drivesfloppy drives, and hard drive enclosures.

Stewart has recently released a new product in its USB connector series. Stewart USB Type-B connectors are designed in a vertical and horizontal configuration. These connectors are able to support data speeds of up to 480 Mbps for USB 2.0 applications.

Current withstand up to 1.5 Ampere

Stewart’s USB Type B connectors have a frog leg shield pin design. This design increases reliability during the soldering processes. This results in an increase in the product’s life cycle. All Stewart Connector USB connectors are plated with 30 micro-inches of gold on each contact. This plating can withstand a peak current of up to 1.5A per contact.

Wide temperature range

Stewart’s USB connectors are also moulded in LCP plastic. It extends the operating temperatures of the device from -55°C up to 85°C. These connectors are designed to meet the industries increasing demand for economic solutions.
