Peregrine Semiconductor introduces the PE45450 which is a HaRP™ technology-enhanced power limiter designed for use in high performance power limiting for up to 50W pulsed RF input from 9kHz to 6GHz.

Unlike traditional PIN diode solutions, the PE45450 achieves an adjustable input 1dB compression point or limiting threshold via a low current control voltage (VCTRL), eliminating the need for external components, such as DC blocking capacitors, RF choke inductors, and bias resistors. It delivers low insertion loss and high linearity under non-limiting input power levels and extremely fast response and recovery time in a limiting event. It also offers superior ESD rating and ESD protection of 8000 volts to protect sensitive circuits.


This broadband limiter can handle up to 10W of power in CW applications. The adjustable power limiting threshold, from +25 to +35dBm, enables flexibility across different platforms and architectures. Peregrine’s UltraCMOS, monolithic solution is 8X smaller than comparable GaAs PIN diode solutions and no external components are required.

The PE45450 offers fast response and recovery time of 1nS making it ideal for receiver protection in military ECM applications, radar, wireless infrastructure and test & measurement.
