The new sensor enhances the lidar technology for skillfully mapping objects that are in motion
Velodyne Lidar, a provider of smart and powerful lidar solutions for autonomy, introduces the Puck 32MR™ sensor. The sensor brings a cost-effective solution for industrial vehicles, robotics, shuttles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and other autonomous markets.
The Puck 32MR is designed for scalability and power-eﬃciency that extends vehicle operating time within a wide temperature and environmental ranges without the need for active cooling. The sensor uses 905 nanometer (nm), Class 1 eye-safe technology and is assembled in Velodyne’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.
Alongwith Velodyne’s surround-view perception capability, the Puck 32MR allows a range of 120 meters and a 40-degree vertical field of view to enable navigation in unfamiliar and changing surroundings. Therefore, the sensor accurately detects crosswalks, curbs, vehicles, pedestrians, bicycles and obstacles for safe and eﬃcient operation in roadway, commercial and industrial use cases.
Besides outstanding perception, this sensor also delivers reliability and durability in a compact form factor.
