The new 5mmx5mm Qorvo QPM1002 T/R module offers a compact solution as needed for X-Band phased array radar applications.
Transmit/Receive (T/R) modules are key components in next-generation Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar systems. RFMW is addressing this demand by offering design and sales support for a high-performance, X-band, Transmit/Receive (T/R) module for AESA radar applications.
Operating over 8.5 to 10.5GHz, the Qorvo QPM1002 module claims to offer higher efficiency, reliability, power and survivability, as well as savings in size, weight and cost for mission-critical radar system designs.
5x5mm Qorvo QPM1002 T/R module
The Qorvo QPM1002 is a Gallium Nitride MMIC front-end module (FEM) designed for X-Band radar applications within the 8.5 – 10.5 GHz range. It incorporates a T/R switch, low noise amplifier and power amplifier in a 5x5mm QFN package for tight spacing requirements.
The module performs well in high-temperature environments due to 0.25um GaN-on-SiC fabrication.
Saturated, pulsed output power from the transmit amplifier is 35dBm with small signal gain of 33dB.
Noise figure on the receive side is 2.2dB with small signal gain of 25dB.
Input power survivability is up to 2W without permanent damage, compared with a typical GaAs LNA, which can be damaged by less than 100mW.
