Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) expanded its RadioVerse technology and design ecosystem with the same bandwidth RF transceiver ADRV9009. This RF transceiver provides a single radio platform for the deployment of 5G which already sustained the 2G/3G/4G coverage thus simplify phased array radar design. For aerospace and defence systems, it addresses the performance requirements of both wideband and narrowband applications such as military communications and signal intelligence.
The ADRV9009 RF transceiver delivers twice the bandwidth of 200MHz in comparison to previous generation devices. This device is made with an intention to replace as many as 20 components, cut power in half and also reduce the size by 60 percent. It copes with the antenna density and also expanded its network capacity to meet the emerging 5G wireless infrastructure equipment in aerospace and defence systems.
Common radio platform to handle cellular services
The device is tunable over a range of 75MHz to 6GHz in order to support the existing cellular services like 2G/3G/4G and now the 5G.
Using this, it will let cellular equipment manufacturers to adopt a single, compact radio design across all bands and power variants. Thus designers have a common radio platform to handle emerging wideband applications like 5G along with delivering the existing 2G, 3G and 4G services.
The transceiver is a single-chip TDD solution that can be used in the design of a portable, laboratory grade 5G test and measurement devices, required for field testing of cellular and IoT networks. This will allow designers to meet the radio channel count requirements of 5G massive MIMO equipment.
It features the fast frequency hopping for enhanced link security and spectrum efficiency. Also, simplifies digital beamforming design by handling local oscillator (LO) synchronization on-chip hence eliminating the need for external LOs.
