Smart Clothing Gets New Washable Conductive Inks


To manufacture printed electronic circuits on washable textiles, Creative Materials has unveiled new 127-48 series of conductive Inks and coatings that are able to withstand a minimum of 50 machine wash and heated dryer cycles.

Application methods include screen-printing, syringe dispensing, dip coating or roll coating methods. Applications include wearable electrodes, biosensors, heart rate monitoring, pressure sensors and conductive wire replacement.

Available in several variations, 127-48 inks offer new possibilities for smart textiles, as well as the facility for use in many wearable printed electronics applications: 127-48 is a highly conductive silver ink/coating; 127-48E is a medical silver/silver chloride version; and127-48LR is a carbon ink/coating.


The 127-48 series inks are stretchable and breathable and are designed for direct printing onto synthetic fabrics, including polyester, spandex and nylon, with no need for dielectric encapsulation to ensure wash durability.

These products are also reportedly very flexible, resistant to creasing and have excellent adhesion to a wide variety of substrates.
