ST has agreed to include the Sigfox networking software in its development tools to enable developers to speed development of their LPWAN-based products and solutions. This is intended to support the growing demand for connected devices for a broad range of applications, including supply-chain management, building and equipment maintenance, water and gas metering, security, transportation, agriculture, mining and home automation.
Collaboration speeds development of LPWAN-based products using STM32 microcontrollers, ultra-low power RF transceivers, secure elements, sensors, and power-management components
ST said this collaboration will speed customer adoption of Sigfox as a standard low-power wide-area network (LPWAN) for securely connecting physical devices to the Cloud and the IoT.
As per the announcement, ST will offer the Sigfox networking software as part of ST’s MCU software package, including STM32 tool compatibility. ST will also offer the S2-LP sub-GHz radio transceiver and the Sigfox-compatible STSAFE-A1SX secure element. Furthermore, the company will provide a wide range of motion, environmental, and audio sensors, and power-management devices.
