Mobile IoT Chip Shrinks CAT-M1/NB1 Modules To 100mm²


For designers of cellular IoT modules, Altair  has unveiled a narrowband CAT-M1 and NB-IoT chip which is said to incorporate around ninety per cent of the components in a cellular IoT module, and requires only a few additional components to enable miniature module sizes of less than 100mm².

The ALT1250 features global band support, advanced security and location capabilities far surpassing the functionality of existing chipsets, according to the firm.

Offering support for both Release 13 standards – CAT-M1 and NB1, the highly integrated chip incorporates an LTE base band processor, RFIC, PMU, memory, Power Amplifiers, filters and antenna switch, as well as a GNSS and a cellular based location engine and MCU subsystem for customer developed.
