Discover a development kit which has everything you need to prototype and test sensor-to-cloud connectivity applications for the Internet of Things (IoT). Called Thunderboard React, the kit is available from Mouser as an evaluation board or in a Car Kit, which bundles a model car with the evaluation board. Designers can mount the board on the car, and then measure speed, orientation, and movements of the car through the mobile app.
Silicon Lab’s Thunderboard react has leading set of sensors and connects using Bluetooth Smart to the free mobile app which then seamlessly connects the Thunderboard to real-time cloud database. This data can then be visualized and used to control the LED states on the board’s hardware.
The kit integrates Silicon Labs’ ultra-low-power Bluetooth 4.2 module, BGM111, that is built around a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M4 processor. The module includes a Bluetooth radio, an antenna, and a BLE software stack, and provides a transmit power up to 8dBm and receiver sensitivity down to ‑93dBm for robust RF performance. The module communicates via I2C interface with the board’s sensors.
The board features a rich set of optical, environmental, and motion sensors including Silicon Labs’ Si7021 relative humidity and temperature sensor, Si1133 ambient light and UV sensor, a hall-effect sensor, and a 6-axis motion sensor.
A 10-pin Mini-Simplicity debug connector allows designers to develop, program, and debug the firmware application with the hardware via Simplicity Studio.
