Infineon launched new power stage devices which are claimed to achieve a power efficiency of 96 per cent. When combined with digital PWM power management controllers, the power stages can reduce power loss and simplify design of voltage regulation (VR) solutions for multicore processors, ASICs and FPGA’s where efficient power management is critical. Examples include server, storage, client and communications systems.
The new devices come in 50A through 70A current ratings, with different efficiency levels to match design requirements. Offered in a small 5mm x 6mm PQFN SMD package, the devices also offer smart self-protection with both over current and over-voltage protection, very accurate temperature and current information.
“Infineon has greatly expanded its portfolio of power management technologies recently. The integrated power stage combines further increases in energy efficiency with power density for enterprise power applications”, said Richard Kuncic, Vice President and General Manager of Infineon’s Business Line DCDC.
