Diodes Incorporated introduced a DC-DC buck converter which delivers high efficiency under light and heavy loads and targets mobile phones, wearable devices and similar battery-powered applications. Operating with a fixed switching frequency of 2MHz, the AP3405 reduces the size of external components, and offered in a compact U-DFN2020-8 package.
The AP3405 is a current mode, PWM synchronous, step-down converter that operates with a 2.3V to 5.5V input voltage range and supplies an output from 0.7V to 5.5V, accurate to ±1.5 per cent, up to 600mA. A low 32μA quiescent current helps extend battery life and internal MOSFETs with low RDS(ON) enable high efficiency under all load conditions.
Comprehensive protection features built into the device protect both the end system and the device itself. These include hiccup mode short-circuit protection (SCP), under-voltage lock-out (UVLO), over-temperature protection (OTP) and over-current protection (OCP).
