TE Connectivity announced a new circular hybrid connector (CHC) primarily for use in controllers for hydraulic and pneumatic valves. Typical applications include welding, stamping, milling and injection molding operations.
The new CHC delivers highly reliable connection technology and meets the demanding durability and quality requirements of real-time Ethernet applications in industrial automation. The new connector meets the VARAN standard (Versatile Automation Random Access Network), the Industrial Ethernet based protocol used in factory automation.
The connector has eight power and four data contacts and was designed for real-time machine automation applications that require a high-performance data connection and power up to 10A. Using a retrofit platform, the CHC also offers optional inserts with 11 contacts plus PE (protected earth).
“By combining power supply and data into one single connector, customers can achieve a higher degree of design flexibility, especially for manufacturers of injection molding machines,” said Michael Steuer, global product manager, TE Industrial. “Thanks to its VARAN-bus standard compatibility, the connector supports, for example, fast change-over times of molds in molding machines, and simplified cabling reduces installation time by up to 50 per cent.”
