Murata announced high-frequency chip inductors in the ultra-compact 01005 size (0.4 x 0.2mm) targeting high-frequency modules such as SAW, GPS and ANT for cell phones, smartphones and cell phones (WCDMA/GSM/LTE), wireless modules (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth. etc.), and all types of high-frequency circuits.
There is a rising demand for ultra-compact RF inductors with high Q characteristics capable of reducing circuit loss to the absolute minimum. This is due to a trend toward increased multiband capability, multi-functionality and sophisticated functions, which makes the configuration of the RF circuits in smartphones and other compact mobile devices more complex, and the number of components increasing.
At the same time, the volume of batteries inside these mobile devices has become larger and larger, necessitating the RF circuits to be configured in more limited spaces.
The LQP02HQ series of thin-film inductors are claimed to achieve the world’s highest Q characteristics in the 01005 size using the company’s high-accuracy monolithic processing technology. The products feature the optimum coil patterns and L-shaped electrode construction.
The series consists of products with inductance values ranging from 0.4 nH to 22 nH. Further, the new components are said to support an inductor tolerance of ±0.05 nH (0.4 to 1.5 nH), which is the world’s lowest.
