Infineon Technologies AG takes a step ahead to meet the rising security and convenience demands of contactless payments by launching the new SLC 32P family of security controllers. The controllers increase performance of contactless payment transactions by speeding up data handling by a factor of 15.
With this new payment platform, smart card and device manufacturers can benefit in many ways. It enables the development of payment cards that process EMV transactions well below the thresholds mandated by many payment schemes. MasterCard requires a card processing time below 300 ms for contactless products issued under their brand. Manufacturers of payment cards, wearables and proximity devices such as tokens can meet requirements mandated by MasterCard from January 2016 onwards. Faster data processing further improves user experience for transport operators such as Transport for London (TfL) to accept payment cards in their contactless ticketing infrastructure.
Besides increased speed and security advantages, the SLC 32P payment platform addresses contact-based as well as contactless and dual interface payment applications. In addition, the new security controllers are designed to support static, dynamic and combined data authentication schemes (SDA, DDA, CDA).
