Develop Embedded MCU Codes Using IDE Tools


The newly launched 32-bit PIC32MZ EF series is supported by Microchip’s free MPLAB X Integrated Development Environment (IDE) that helps designers to accelerate product development to meet the evolving customer demands. MPLAB X IDE is a software program that runs on a PC (Windows, Mac OS, Linux) to develop applications for Microchip MCUs and digital signal controllers. It is called an Integrated Development Environment (IDE), because it provides a single integrated “environment” to develop code for embedded MCUs.

MPLAB X Integrated Development Environment brings many changes to the PIC microcontroller development tool chain. Unlike previous versions of the MPLAB IDE which were developed completely in-house, MPLAB X IDE is based on the open source NetBeans IDE from Oracle. Taking this path has allowed us to add many frequently requested features very quickly and easily, while also providing us with a much more extensible architecture to bring you even more new features in the future.

According to the press release, Microchip offers MPLAB ICD 3 In-Circuit Debugger System a cost-effective high-speed hardware debugger/programmer for Microchip Flash Digital Signal Controller (DSC) and MCU devices. In addition to this, the company also provides the MPLAB REAL ICE In-Circuit Emulator System to help designers to develop next generation high speed emulator for Microchip Flash DSC and MCU devices. It debugs and programs PIC Flash MCUs and dsPIC DSCs with the powerful, yet easy-to-use graphical user interface of MPLAB IDE, included with each kit.


The MPLAB ICD 3 In-Circuit Debugger (part # DV164035) is priced at US$ 199.95 and MPLAB REAL ICE In-Circuit Emulator System (part # DV244005) is priced at US$ 499.98, as stated in the release.
