ST introduced a new family of devices that offer the industry’s highest power efficiencies in power supplies for servers, laptops, telecom, and consumer applications, especially under light-load conditions. The devices offer very low-switching losses, especially under light load conditions and enable designers to easily meet the increasingly stringent energy-efficiency targets and design compact and lighter solutions.
According to the press release, “The MDmesh M2 EP MOSFETs are ST’s latest addition to the MDmesh M2 series of high-voltage MOSFETs ideal for both hard- and soft-switching topologies. Tailored for the most demanding very high frequency converters (> 150 kHz), these new 600V MOSFETs combine a very low on-state resistance and gate charge with a reduction of Eoff (turn off energy) of upto 20 per cent compared to the previous M2 MOSFETs.”
Offered in a wide range of packages (PowerFLAT 5×6 HV, DPAK, D2PAK, TO-220, TO-220FP, I2PAKFP, and TO-247), the MDmesh M2 EP devices price starts from US$ 1.5 each, for the STD15N60M2-EP in a DPAK package for orders of 1000 pieces, as mentioned in the release.
The key features of the new MDmesh M2 EP series include:
- Extremely low Qg (as low as 16 nC)
- Optimised capacitance profile for light-load conditions
- Optimised Vth and Rg values for soft switching
- Body diode ruggedness
