Based on SC5 Technology Cree has announced the launch of XLamp XP-L High Intensity LED with reduced system costs by upto 40 per cent. The SC5 Technology Platform is built on Cree’s industry-best silicon carbide technology and features significant advancements in epitaxial structure, chip architecture and an advanced light conversion system optimized for best thermal and optical performance.
Referring to the company product release, the XLamp XP-L High-Intensity LED is the first of Cree’s new class of High-Intensity LEDs optimised to deliver maximum candela through secondary optics. Stating further, “The XP-L High-Intensity LED is the first single-die LED to deliver over 100,000 cd in a 4-degree beam with a 50-mm diameter optic at 10W. It delivers more than double the candelas of the industry’s previous highest-performing single-die XP-L LED through the same optic. The new high-intensity LED offers drop-in ready upgrades for XP-based luminaries’ designs, enabling manufacturers to achieve higher luminous intensity with minimal redesign to accelerate time to market.”
