Circuit Protection Solutions For LED Lighting


In addition to diverse portfolio of circuit protection solutions, Littelfuse has announced two new device launches that address a variety of LED applications from indoor and outdoor lighting to devices for LED bulb design.

According to the press release, “The Littelfuse LSP05 and LSP10 are thermally protected Surge Protective Devices that are self-protected devices and specially designed to be used in outdoor and commercial LED lighting fixtures for transient overvoltage protection. It is constructed with Littelfuse thermally protected varistor technology. Its built-in thermal disconnect function provides additional protection to prevent catastrophic failure and fire hazard even under the extreme circumstances of varistor end-of-life or sustaining over voltage conditions. The LSP05 and LSP10 SPD facilitate the customer’s product compliance to IEEE C62.41.2 Location Category C Low and US Dept of Energy MSSLC Model Spec.”

Referring to the release, the second product are two surface mount sub-miniature NANO fuses. The release mentions, “The 470 series is a family of 125V rated high energy SMD fuses whereas the 476 Series is a family of 250V rated fuses both perfectly suited for space constrained applications. 476 series offers the standard Nano Fuse circuit protection capability with a very small 2410 footprint compared to that of 470 series with 1206 foot print. Both the fuses are RoHS compliant, Halogen-Free and 100 per cent Pb-Free with guaranteed operating temperature of up to 125°C.”
