High-current Photorelays Entice High-speed IC Tester Manufacturers

Toshiba has announced two new high-current photorelays in S-VSON4 package which is claimed to feature the industry’s smallest mounting area. The new 60V TLP3407S and 100V TLP3409S offer very low on-resistance and on/off switching of high currents, making them suited to switching applications in high-speed testers.

New S-VSON4 package with area of 1.45mm × 2.0mm (typ.) and height of 1.75mm (max) is said to reduce the mounting area by 22.5 percent when compared to the existing its VSON4 package.

In addition, this photorelay series increases the operating temperature from 85°C to 110°C, and contributes to improved design efficiency by reducing the size of the tester board, increasing the number of relay circuits and improving integration density, says Toshiba.

The TLP3407S and TLP3409S achieve high voltages offering support for DPS applications of semiconductor test equipment. Other applications for these devices include: probe cards, medical equipment and replacement for mechanical relays.

Mass production of the new photorelays has commenced.
