Linear Technology introduced two DC/DC µModule regulators with 2kVAC galvanic isolation to benefit designers who need galvanically isolated output power. The LTM8067 and LTM8068 give a highly-efficient and reliable power management solution for applications including ground loop elimination in systems with sensors or noise sensitive loads in industrial automation, and test and measurement equipment.
Including an isolating transformer, control circuitry, power switches and other supporting components in a 9mm x 11.25mm x 4.92mm BGA package, the chips require only one resister, with input and output capacitors to complete the design.
The devices’ compact BGA package makes them suitable for automated assembly by standard surface mount equipment. The components are UL60950 recognised to meet Information Technology Equipment Safety because of their pin creepage and clearance, and other features.
Operating over an input voltage range of 2.8V to 40V, the LTM8068 supports an output voltage range of 2.5V to 18V, set by a single resistor. The LTM8067 has an adjustable output voltage range of 2.5V to 24V with up to 450mA load current ability. Because of flyback topology, both the devices can regulate an output voltage above, below or equal to the input voltage.
The LTM8067 and LTM8068 are SnPb or RoHS compliant and operate from -40°C to 125°C.
